LANDMARK FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2012
Brief: International Architectural Competition - Landmark for the Olympic Games in Paris 2012
Location: Paris, France
Organised by : Groupement d'Intérêt Public Paris 2012
Stage: Concept design
Date: 2004
The main concept for this project is based on the transformation of symbolic elements of the sporting world, most notably the running track. The deformation, folding and twisting of the running track forms the basis for:
a continuous and fluid path from the ground up to the top of the landmark;
the creation of an exhibition environment dedicated to the Olympic Games;
a panoramic view of the future Olympic site from a platform (28m) enclosed by simple mesh envelop;
a sporting context in which the public are immersed and physically challenged by the different spatial relationships of the design;
the projection of the Olympic symbol in the sky above Paris.
