SELECTED PROJECT
CONTINUUM HOUSE
Brief: Design Competition - Design a new family home
Location: N/A
Organised by: Boral Australia
Stage: Concept design
Date: 2007
The first intention was to generate the design from the properties of a unique material: a concrete tile. From a conceptual point of view, the fact that the tile can be used with different angles, including a low pitch, created the opportunity to use it for the walls as well as for the roof in a continuous and consistent manner. Walls and roof become a folded and continuous surface.
Also, the selection of a unique material is motivated by the idea of focusing the design more on the potential for different pitches rather than displaying too many products, colors or textures. Materiality reinforces geometry .
